"My name WAS Nobody. I have been in and out of shelters since my discharge from the army in 1993. I had tried to find my place in society, but I always made the wrong choices. I was an alcoholic who drank a 12 pack every weekday after work and a case with a bottle on the weekends. I was angry and I just could not let go of it. Five years ago, I went to live with my sister to help her with cleaning and caring for her 8 children. Instead of being there to help her I ended somehow doing everything as if it were my own home and my own children. I ended up getting desperate so one day I called for help myself. I called different agencies, but I was getting nowhere. I ended up threatening a cop and that got me a one-way ticket to Tucson and to Church on the Street. With nothing to my name, I found hope here. I was given food, clothing and a 10 day stay in a bed and then signed on for the 6-month discipleship program. I found what I always looked for. I found hope, peace, love, strength and purpose. I found God. Through prayer and studying the Bible I continue to grow every day. Now my name is Lynn Cain."
"My name is Donna, and I am a disciple at Church on the Street Tucson. During my discipleship, I have learned more about the Bible & I read it more often. The more I read my Bible the more I fear the Lord because I have learned to know right from wrong now. I have learned about His wrath, but also about His goodness. God has filled my heart with love and joy and is showing me the right way to live and the right way to be toward others. Since I found Church on the Street, they have given me an opportunity to be closer to the Lord and to read and understand the Bible. Being closer to the Lord makes me happier and makes me have hope for the future."
“I was lost in the world and I needed to be found. I had realized that I wanted to quit drinking; that is when my uncle suggested I come to Arizona to better my life. It was hard for me at first as a new disciple during my 30-day restriction because I wanted alcohol and cigarettes still and I felt trapped. I knew these urges were no longer an option because of the structure of the program, so to keep my mind off these things, I would work out and kept my face in the Bible. I focused only on the Word and being around people who were inspiring me to keep my faith in the Word. Since I have been here, God has lifted up my spirit. One day I received a phone call and at first, I wasn’t sure who it was. When I answered, it turned out to be my son who I had not spoken to for 3 years. That moment brought life back to me and was the most amazing feeling in the world. I have God to thank for that.
"For nothing shall be impossible with God."
Luke 1:37
I know God has more for me so I will be patient. People must put their faith in God, and their belief and trust in Him. If He did it for me, he can do it for others. Lord. I love you and I thank you very much for all you have done for me and will keep doing for me. Amen.”
"God bless you. My name is Frank. I want to thank the Lord for saving me when he did. I’m truly grateful for all He has done in my life. I have been at Church on the Street in Tucson Arizona for a couple of years now but what I would really like to share is something that no man has ever done for me. I want to tell you what my Lord Jesus has done for me. He has not only changed my life; He has transformed it! I live a life of peace now knowing that the God I serve is not only capable of saving my life but also anyone who would be willing to ask Him into their hearts. I thank God for opening the doors to Church on the Street. It is places such as this that can save people’s lives through Christ. Just like he saved mine. Thank you, Lord, for answering my cry.”
“My name is Vince Bramley. I am the Men’s Mission House Manager and I have been here for 2 ½ years. Not too long ago I began doing a door to door outreach and I have been so blessed by the experience. When God put it in my heart to start this outreach, The Lord sent a minister to our Thursday night outreach and he blessed us with tracks. I believe this was the Lord preparing and providing us for us to do is will. This minister even gave us some tips on how we could be a blessing and minister to the mostly Hispanic neighborhoods. A few of the disciples and I go faithfully through Tucson sharing the word of God, passing out flyers and the tracks to as many people as we can. As we travel, we pray over the City of Tucson and the Holy Spirit really speaks to us as we walk. Sometimes people will even approach us and ask us for prayer! This truly is amazing. So far, we have gone as far as 10th Ave all the way to Kolb and have already passed out 3,500 tracks! Glory to God!”
